Getting to the Conference
The Conference is being held on the campus of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, located in Amherst, Massachusetts, Hampshire County, USA. The town of Amherst is located in the picturesque Connecticut River Valley at the foothills of the beautiful Berkshire Mountains in western Massachusetts. Amherst and the surrounding area are served by both fine and casual dining establishments as well as by both local inns and international lodging chains. The University campus and surrounding area are serviced by regularly scheduled buses from New York City, Boston, Hartford, and Springfield. Amtrak offers service directly to Amherst from Washington, Philadelphia, New York, Vermont, and Canada. Amherst is a 45-minute drive from Bradley International Airport, which serves the Hartford/Springfield metropolitan area. Bradley International is a hub for many domestic carriers and offers connecting flights to international carriers. Local companies provide regularly scheduled or door-to-door airport shuttle service.
Air Travel:
Bradley International Airport is the closest airport to the conference. Bradley is a 45 minute drive from the conference with several choices of rental cars available as well as options for airport shuttle services.
Logan Airport in Boston is a two hour drive from the conference.

- Amtrak train service from Boston, New York and Springfield
- Peter Pan Bus Lines service from Boston, New York, and Logan and Hartford Airports
- Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) regional bus service
- UMass Bus Service around Amherst and surrounding areas
- Valley Transporter shuttle service from Bradley, Logan, New York, Providence airports.

RETHINKING MARXISM's six previous international conferences have each attracted more than 1000 students, scholars, and activists. They have included keynote addresses and plenary sessions, formal papers, roundtables, workshops, art exhibitions, video presentations, activist discussions, and cultural performances. Similar events are planned for the next international conference, RM09: New Marxian Times. |
